Cold Heading Machines
Coordinate drive speed and torque requirements with repeated forming cycles and changing machine loads.

Cold heading machines form metal parts through repeated, high-force cycles. The motor drive must be considered alongside the machine mechanics, production rate and control sequence.
Understand the duty cycle
The load on a cold heading machine can vary substantially between idle, feed and forming stages. Before selecting a VFD, engineers should review motor current, peak demand, cycle frequency and the speed range required by the process.
Acceleration, deceleration and any braking requirement also need to be matched to the machine design.
Control around the equipment
A variable frequency drive can provide adjustable motor speed and controlled starting for appropriate machine configurations. Command sources, interlocks and fault signals should be planned with the machine controller so operation remains predictable.
Where the application calls for stronger torque response or tighter control, the motor type and supported control mode should be reviewed against the selected EACON series.
Confirm the selection on site
Final drive sizing and parameter settings should be checked with the actual motor, transmission and forming cycle. Share the machine duty and electrical drawings with EACON to assess a suitable configuration.
