Water Treatment

Match pump and blower speed to changing process demand while keeping water and wastewater systems easier to monitor.

Water Treatment application

Water-treatment equipment rarely runs at one fixed demand. Flow, pressure and aeration requirements can change through the day. A variable frequency drive gives operators a way to adjust motor speed to the process rather than relying only on valves or dampers.

Where speed control matters

Pumps move water between treatment stages and maintain pressure in supply systems. Blowers provide air for biological processes. Both may need to respond to changing demand while avoiding abrupt starts and stops.

The motor, pump or blower curve, operating range and feedback signal all influence how a drive should be selected and configured.

An application-led approach

A suitable EACON drive can be configured around the required speed range, acceleration and deceleration, and the control signal from the wider system. Where pressure or flow feedback is used, PID control can help regulate the target operating point.

Drive sizing should account for motor rated current, duty, cabinet conditions and the minimum speed allowed by the driven equipment. Final settings need to be checked on the actual system.

Plan the complete system

Review sensors, valves, bypass arrangements, motor cooling and communication with the plant controller before commissioning. The goal is stable operation that fits the process, with energy performance assessed from measured operating conditions.
